Nikki Sixx DIY Costume Breakdown:

OK, it’s time to break down the Nikki Sixx rockstar costume so you’re looking authentic for your Halloween party. When you say the words ‘rockstar’ or’ hellraiser’ Nikki Sixx is what springs to mind. The guy took off where the likes of Led Zeppelin left off.

Nikki Sixx’s outfit was ‘bad to the bone’ and black was ‘the order of the day’. Well, most rock bands went for the satanic look back in the 1980s.

It kicks off with a black tank top that frees up the guns to play ‘the axe’ (or guitar). Next up, we need a black leather studded waistcoat over the top, combined with the customary 80s rockstar leather pants (You can’t be Nikki Sixx without leather pant, man!).

Other essentials required for your ultimate Nikki Sixx halloween party costume are a studded rocker belt, studded wristbands, fingerless gloves, tattoo sleeves (unless you already have your own tats), rockstar bandana, a heavy metal chain with skull, and black leather biker boots.

To finish off the outfit, you need an 80s rockstar wig. We chose this one (see image above) as the perfect Nikki Sixx wig.

And there you have it. You’re ready to rock and you’re ready to party, like Nikki Sixx.

Who is Mötley Crüe basist, Nikki Sixx?

The 1980s was an iconic era for rock. Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Foreigner and Guns N’ Roses were some of the biggests groups around. Mötley Crüe was formed in 1981 by rockstars Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee.

Nikki Sixx was the bassist of Mötley Crüe and founder of SIXX:A.M., but wasn’t originally known as ‘Nikki Sixx’. Real name Frank Feranna, he started his career in the music industry as Nikki London, and then Nikki Nine, before settling on Nikki Sixx. He said he took his name from a frontman of a Californian band called SQUEEZE, who was called Niki Syxx. Loving that name so much, he changed his name legally and the rest is history.

Nikki Sixx is now a rock icon but he was lucky to make it this far. He was a mad individual who partied every night, supposedly overdosed on heroin 6 times and was, at one point, declared clinically dead for 2 minutes. Crazy!

Thankfully, he became sober back in 2004, has toured all over the world and has worked on many projects with the other members of Mötley Crüe, as well as other guests. Rumours have it that Mötley Crüe have been banned from the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame due to their past behaviour (which is legendary in itself). But whatever the reason, Nikki Sixx is still a true legend of rock!
